Early Life and Career

Lukas Josef Podolski was born on 4th June 1985 in Gliwice, Poland. His family moved to West Germany when he was 2 and he grew up in Bergheim, North Rhine-Westphalia. Podolski began his football career at the local club FC 07 Bergheim before joining 1. FC Koln in 1995. He made his debut for Koln's first team in 2003 and quickly established himself as a rising star.

Podolski's impressive performances for Koln earned him a call-up to the German national team in 2004. He made his international debut against Hungary and scored his first goal in a friendly against Iran a few months later.

Continued Success

In 2006, Podolski moved to Bayern Munich, where he won the Bundesliga title and the German Cup. After two seasons with Bayern, he returned to Koln. In 2012, he joined Arsenal and helped the club win the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015. Podolski left Arsenal in 2015 and had spells with Inter Milan, Galatasaray, and Vissel Kobe before returning to Gornik Zabrze in 2021.

Podolski was a key member of the German national team for over a decade. He represented his country at three World Cups and three European Championships, winning the World Cup in 2014. He retired from international football in 2017 after making 130 appearances and scoring 49 goals.
