Subheadline
Kylian Mbappe suffered a fractured nose during France's Euro 2024 win over Austria on Monday, but the star forward will not require surgery and is expected to wear a protective mask for the remainder of the tournament.
The injury occurred in the second half of the match when Mbappe collided with Austrian defender Martin Hinteregger. Mbappe was able to continue playing but was substituted off in the 75th minute.
After the game, France manager Didier Deschamps confirmed that Mbappe had suffered a fractured nose but said that he would be available for the team's next match against Hungary on Saturday.
"Kylian has a fractured nose, but he will be able to play with a mask," Deschamps said. "He is a warrior and he wants to help the team win the Euros."
Mbappe is one of the most important players for France and his absence would be a major blow to the team's chances of winning the tournament. However, Deschamps is confident that Mbappe will be able to overcome the injury and help France achieve their goal.
"Kylian is a special player and he will find a way to play through the pain," Deschamps said. "He is a champion and he will not let this injury stop him from helping the team."
