Brisbane fullback Reece Walsh ‘cried for a week’ after birth of daughter
Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh has opened up about the "crazy" start to the year, which has included the birth of his first child and his father's battle with terminal brain cancer.
The 20-year-old was born on July 10, 2002, in Southport, Queensland, Australia, to parents Rodney and Ke. He has two mothers, Māori Walsh, and stepmother Jodie Walsh, who have both played a significant role in his life.
"It's been a bit of a wild start to the year," Walsh said. "But I'm just taking it all in and trying to enjoy it as much as I can."
Walsh said becoming a father to daughter Willow had been a "life-changing experience."
"It's just amazing to see her grow and change every day," he said. "It's definitely made me appreciate the little things in life."
Walsh said he was also grateful for the support of his family and friends during a challenging time.
"My dad has been battling brain cancer for the past few months, so it's been tough on him and the whole family," Walsh said. "But he's a fighter, and he's doing everything he can to beat it."
Walsh said he was determined to make the most of his time with his family and friends.
"I know that life is too short, so I'm just trying to live every day to the fullest," he said.
